November 2014 Yan Tan Tethera Yarn Club 2014

Our indie dyer for November’s Baa Baa Brighouse Yan Tan Tethera Yarn Club was Louise Lavender of The Cryptozoologist – Fantastical Hand-Dyed Yarns. Louise is based in Beverley, Yorkshire and uses lots of Yorkshire spun British yarn in her dying projects.

Louise said: “I’m really proud to be part of the Yorkshire wool industry – so a club celebrating it is really up my street!”

Louise used 100% Jacobs DK base for her project which gives 250 yards, is lovely and plump and perfect for Autumn accessories. Her inspiration often comes from pop culture and mythology and she loves bright and unusual colour combinations. We’re really intrigued to see how she will interpret a Yorkshire landscape photograph.

Her inspiration for the project was ‘Walled Garden’ by Shutterspot Photography which was taken at Temple Newsam in Leeds.

September 2014 Yan Tan Tethera Yarn Club 2014

Our dyer was Katie Pearce of Sylvan Tiger Yarn.

Katie is based in Leeds and specialises in dying British wool using natural dye in extract form. She already draws her inspiration from the local landscapes of Yorkshire, the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, so we feel she will be perfect for launching the club – which quite fittingly is Yorkshire Day!

Her inspiration for September’s yarn came from this stunning photograph of Marsden Moor which captures the late Summer sun through the clouds.
