Exciting news! Baa Baa Brighouse will be hosting a World Wide Knit in Public Day event on Saturday June 21st.
It will take place at Rastrick Library, Crowtrees Lane, Rastrick, Brighouse from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Tea, coffee and cake will be available and there will also be a woolly raffle in aid of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice with prizes from Baa Baa Brighouse.
Bring your knitting or crochet project along or some yarn and knitting needles or a hook and join in the fun. Meet like minded people as they celebrate their craft with thousands of others across the world on the same day!
Baa Baa Brighouse will also be launching its regular Knit and Natter Group which will meet at the same time and place on the first and third Saturdays of every month.
World Wide Knit in Public Day began in 2005 as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Knitting can be such a solitary act but this is a specific day to meet like-minded people, share projects, knowledge and talk about fibre arts together.
In the past, some people have used this event to highlight to the general public that knitting is not just for grannies, it is for everyone – a community activity.
In 2005 there were about 25 events hosted around the world, rising to over 750 by 2009.
